Remedial Massage

Our therapists are trained to assess your body, observe over time, and design individual treatment plans for each client. It is more than just a feel-good massage; we use specific techniques to address each individual’s injury, postural or joint issues, improve circulation, reduce pain, and bring a sense of general well-being. Remedial massage is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management.

We will apply varying degrees of appropriate hands-on pressure during your remedial massage. This will improve the function of both muscles and your body as a whole. You will immediately begin to feel the positive changes!

WHAT TO EXPECT

All initial appointments will be 1 hour (minimum) and will include:

  • Brief assessment

  • Hands-on treatment

  • Self-treatment techniques

Subsequent appointments may be shorter (30 mins), however, the majority of our clients feel the best results are achieved after 1 hour or longer of remedial treatment.

Relaxation Massage

Stress is held in the body and the mind; let us help you relieve this by giving you a therapeutic Relaxation Massage. This will provide you with a general loosen up, and encourage blood flow through the body while also boosting your immune system by stimulating the lymphatics. We believe this pain-free therapy is the most effective way to de-stress and relax the mind and body.

During your treatment, we will apply varying degrees of appropriate hands-on pressure (performed at your chosen pressure) that will involve flowing strokes and knead

Sports Massage

Our Sports Massage involves the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit those who are engaged in regular physical activity. Whenever an athlete exercises heavily, their muscles suffer microtraumas. This means small amounts of swelling occurs in the muscles because of tiny tears. A post-event Sports Massage will help reduce the swelling caused by these microtraumas. It will loosen tired, stiff muscles, help maintain flexibility, promote blood flow to the muscles to remove lactic acid and waste build-up, and reduce cramping. In addition, post-event massage will help speed your recovery time and alleviate pulls, strains, and soreness.

So, if you want to perform better, recover faster and stay injury-free, our Sports Massage is for you. We believe that this therapy is a must in any athlete's routine.

Postural Assessment

Posture can be understood as the position in which you hold your body when standing or sitting. Posture is attained as a result of the coordinated action of various muscles working to maintain stability. This is why we provide Postural Assessments for our clients. A Postural Assessment is done to help us determine where holding patterns are when your body is at rest. This will give us an overall view of what is over and underdeveloped and where your imbalances are located. What this does is help us determine the best treatment and individualised training plan for you.

During your treatment, we will focus on finding the areas that aren't working enough and train and challenge them. While we do this, our therapist will release and relax the areas working too much, resulting in a more balanced, functional and mobile body.

Dry Needling

Dry needling trigger point therapy has been used for decades to provide relief for intense muscle pain and mobility issues. An overused muscle undergoes an energy crisis where, because of inappropriate or prolonged contraction, the muscle fibres are no longer getting the adequate blood supply, stimulating a trigger point with a fine filament needle helps draw blood supply back to restore the area and release tension. At AJ’s remedial we have experienced and qualified therapists providing dry needling as a part of pain management plans.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is one of the oldest and most effective methods of releasing toxins from the muscles. By placing special cups on the skin to create suction. This causes the tissues beneath the cup to be drawn up, increasing blood flow to the affected area. Enhanced blood flow under the cups draws impurities and toxins away from muscles towards the surface for elimination
